Arts Rolla extends invitation to free art reception     Arts Rolla, the regional non-for-profit organization founded over 30 years ago to bring art and communities together, is pleased to extend an invitation to the public to the August artist reception. The event is slated for Friday, August 4th, and will be held at The Centre in Rolla, from 5-7 p.m. This event is free of charge.
“Each month, Arts Rolla features art exhibits for the public to enjoy,” explained Martha Edwards, Arts Rolla board member and development director. “We host an opening reception on the first Friday of the month for these exhibits, and we invite the public to stop by and see the featured works of art. These events are free of charge, with food, outstanding art, good conversation, and an opportunity to meet others interested in art or creating art.”
“This is a very exciting show,” explained Edwards. “We are featuring works by the Spring Creek Artisans and the Current River Artists. There will be art for sale at the event, but whether you are interested in purchasing art or just enjoying it, we encourage the public to stop by and take part in this local cultural opportunity. We love to see people of all ages at the receptions. It’s a great way for a family to introduce the arts to children, too.”
There will be artists on site to talk about their art at the reception.
“Art is important in a thriving community,” said Edwards. “Supporting the arts can help the local economy, encourage creativity, attract visitors and tourists, and it can offer cultural opportunities, especially in rural areas. We look forward to seeing community members at the Friday reception.”
The Centre – Rolla’s Health and Recreation Complex is located at 1200 Holloway St. in Rolla.
