SIP ‘N SAVOR ST. JAMES

Enjoy the Ozarks' Best on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Sip 'n Savor St. James. Plans are in full swing for this St. James Chamber of Commerce event which will feature samplings from twelve Missouri wineries and seven craft breweries. The participating wineries include: 7C's Winery, Bardenheier Wine Cellars, Heinrichshaus, Inc., Indian Creek Winery, Les Bourgeois Winery, Meramec Vineyards Winery, Peaceful Bend Vineyard, St. James Winery, Stone Hill Winery, Three Squirrels Winery, Twin Oaks Vineyard & Winery, and Wenwood Farm Winery. The featured craft breweries include: Boulevard Brewing Co., Blue Moon Brewing Co., Boston Beer Co., Big Sky Brewing Co., Charleville Vineyard & Microbrewery, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co., and Spoetzl Brewing Co. The wineries and breweries will be paired with St. James Chamber member businesses throughout the community.
"Nibbles" will be provided at each tasting location and the first 1000 participants will receive a canvas shopping bag with a logo wine glass. Tickets for the event are $15 through April 30 and $20 on May 1. Tickets may be purchased at local St. James wineries, Grellner Sales, the St. James Tourist Information Center, the Rolla Tourist Information Center, or the St. James Chamber of Commerce office or website (www.stjameschamber.net). Prizes will also be awarded throughout the day.
Many additional community activities will be held on May 1: an art show and sale featuring the "Bella Arts Group", a craft fair sponsored by the St. James PTO, complimentary mini-massages sponsored by Ellis Health Centre, and Vacuum Cleaner Museum tours. Live music will be performed during the afternoon by The World's Finest Rolla German Band from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sometimes Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Too Far Gone from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Also, in areas throughout the community, meals will be available for purchase. A Beer and Wine Garden is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. – Midnight with live music by Beeker Street Band from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Double Duty Band from 9 p.m. until shortly before close. Admission to the Beer and Wine Garden will be $5.00.
The joint signing of a Community Covenant by Brigadier General Dave Phillips, Commanding General of Fort Leonard Wood, St. James Mayor Dennis Wilson and representatives of area organizations will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Old Depot. The Community Covenant is a document acknowledging the impact that Fort Leonard has on central Missouri communities; and, in turn, the role of the St. James community in supporting and providing recreational opportunities for military personnel and their families stationed at the Post.
